Operating as a slow-blow solution, the ATL utilises spring-loaded friction surfaces that slip against a centre member when the load exceeds the defined torque limit. Unlike positive disconnect limiters, the drive stays connected during an overload, continuing to slip and exert torque until the prime mover stops or the jam clears. Best suited for high-inertia starts, occasional nuisance slips, and applications where a temporary bump should not stop the entire production line.
