Torque Limiters
A Torque limiter is a protective/safety device that limits torque transmitted in a drive-by slipping when a preset load value is exceeded due to a machine or conveyor jam causing a shock load. When this happens the torque limiter acts as a mechanical fuse and slips when in an overload situation. When the jam has been cleared, it is easy to manually reset the torque limiter by tightening the lock nut, which adjusts the pressure on the springs and friction discs and re-engages the drive. The friction discs act as a brake disc and will wear after excessive friction.
At Arrow Engineering, we supply torque limiters on their own or in complete assemblies with either a platewheel, chain coupling or rubber flexible coupling type. Optional bore and keyways can be machined in our workshop.
Friction Disc Torque Limiters are suitable for use in Sprockets, Plate wheels (Simplex, Duplex, Triplex), Gears, Pulleys or Flexible Couplings. The spring-loaded design enables pre-set torque limits by adjusting the locknut which alters the spring force to suit the specified min / max torque ratings.
For use in Conveyors, Mechanical Handling equipment and Agricultural Machinery. This low-cost product will prevent unnecessary drive damage and eliminate machinery downtime.
